About Tea Day

What is Alzheimer's Tea Day?
Tea Day is a national day of celebration and fundraising that honours people affected by Alzheimer's and Dementia. Each year, thousands of generous people gather together. They drink tea, eat cake and sandwiches, take part in raffles, quizzes and games... and crucially, raise urgent funds for local Alzheimer services.
Why should I host a Tea Day?
Tea Day is our single biggest fundraising event of the year and its success depends on our incredible hosts. The money they raise goes directly to much-needed local services, like our Day Care Centres, support groups, overnight respite and home care.  There’s never been a better reason to put the kettle on.
When is Tea Day?
This year, the official Alzheimer’s Tea Day is Thursday, May 3rd. But you can hold yours on any day that suits you in May - the important thing is to raise as much money as possible to help us keep our vital services running.
Where is Tea Day held?
You can hold your Tea Day wherever you like, have it at home, or in your workplace, garden, local park, community hall or beach. The guest list is also open to your interpretation. Friends, colleagues, family members, that neighbour that you haven’t introduced yourself to yet, everyone is welcome on Tea Day.
What about Tea Day supplies?
Once you’ve registered, we will provide you with a host pack containing all the goodies you need make your day great, including:
• Advertising posters to promote your Tea Day
• Books of raffle tickets to help you raise money on your big day
• A collection box for collecting donations from your guests
• A lodgement form so you can pay the money you raise straight into our bank account.
How much should people give?
Whatever your guests feel is appropriate but the more you can raise, the more people in your local area we can help, e.g. for every €25 raised, we can provide an extra hour of Home Care. Raffles, bake-offs, even a fancy dress competition are just a few extra activities that you could consider to bring in a little more cash!
What do I do with the money I raise?
After the Tea Party, lodge the money you collect at your local bank branch, using the giro provided in your Tea Day pack. Alternatively you can call the office on 01-2073833 and make a donation over the phone.
What if I can't host a Tea Day but want to donate?
If you can’t host a Tea Day this year but would like to make a donation, all you have to do is fill out the Online Donation Form and send it to us. Thank you!
