This is a confidential and free service for people with dementia and their families provided by the Alzheimer Society of Ireland. The service provides practical information and a listening ear. If you have a question or just want to talk, call 1800 341 341 or email helpline@alzheimer.ie. The service is open Monday to Friday, 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday 10 am to 4 pm.
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland have a number Dementia Adviser's who are available to meet you and answer questions you may have. The Alzheimer Society of Ireland run social clubs where people with dementia and a family member or friend come together to meet others. The clubs meet weekly, in the morning or afternoon. It is a social occasion, where people have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee. Often the groups organise an outing or an activity for the meeting. The Alzheimer Cafe is a monthly get together for people with dementia and their families. Usually the cafe is run in the early evening and light refreshments are provided but some meet during the day. At the meetings people have an opportunity to talk with each other and with a guest speaker who is invited to talk about a particular topic.
