Friends of ASI Dementia Inclusive Community Locations
Friends of ASI is open to everyone! We have several (and counting!) Friends of ASI Dementia Inclusive Community locations nationwide.
Whether you are an individual, part of an organisation, a community group, or a service, you can contribute to creating a more inclusive community for people with dementia.
The Friends of ASI initative includes training, awareness, education and services.

Macroom, Co. Cork
In 2023, our Friends of ASI Journey began in Macroom! Since then, our Friends have made significant progress towards building a dementia-inclusive community, including launching new Alzheimer Society of Ireland services, participating in Dementia Awareness Training, organised several fundraisers within local communities and built awareness with new community audiences.
Mallow, Co. Cork
Our wonderful Friends of ASI Mallow, with the support of The Alzheimer Society of Ireland and Mallow Chamber of Commerce, are currently rolling out an action plan as they strive to build a Dementia Inclusive Mallow.
Ratoath, Co. Meath
Ratoath Community Centre and The Venue and our local Friends of ASI, are developing an action plan as they strive to build a dementia inclusive community.
Nenagh, Co. Tipperary
Nenagh are commencing their dementia inclusive journey, with a community event taking place at Abbey Court Hotel, Dublin Road in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, on Thursday, 3rd October at 7 pm.
Hosted by The ASI’s North Tipperary Branch, the event aims to encourage people, businesses, and services in Nenagh to build a dementia inclusive community.

Dungarvan, Co. Waterford
Our Friends of ASI, with support from The Alzheimer Society of Ireland and the Dungarvan & West Waterford Chamber, are making great strides in Dungarvan on their dementia-inclusive journey!
Local activities to date include: extensive participation in Dementia Awareness Training, substantial fundraising efforts by the community, and the launch of a local Memory Café, which was featured on RTE’s Nationwide. Schools are also set to take part in our ‘Creating a Dementia Inclusive Generation’ Transition Year Programme.
Mullingar, Co. Westmeath
Our wonderful Friends of ASI Mullingar, with the support of The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, are currently rolling out an action plan as they strive to build an inclusive community for people with dementia.
Cavan Town, Co. Cavan
Our wonderful Cavan Branch and local Friends of ASI are currently rolling out an action plan as they strive to build a Dementia Inclusive Cavan.
Carlow Town, Co. Carlow
In 2024, The ASI celebrated the refurbishment of our Dementia-Specific Day Care Centre and garden at Bethany House. Now, our local Friends of ASI are advancing a plan to build a dementia inclusive community, including the launch of a social club for people with dementia and their families
Drogheda Co. Louth
Tredagh Lodge Centre, which opened in Drogheda in 2022 after 25 years of dedicated fundraising and lobbying by the local community, is now looking to give back.
Tredagh Lodge and our wonderful Drogheda Branch, are committed to increasing education and awareness about dementia. With the support of our local Friends of ASI, they are embarking on a dementia inclusive journey, striving to create a more informed and supportive community for individuals living with dementia.
Riverchapel, Co. Wexford
Since its opening in 2023, our ASI Day Care Centre in Riverchapel has been actively fostering an inclusive community for people with dementia and their families; activities include participating in fundraising and awareness initiatives and promoting dementia awareness training.
