World Alzheimer’s Month 2024
Dementia is one of the major global health challenges with more than 55 million people living with the condition worldwide. Currently, over 64,000 people live with dementia in Ireland, and number of people will more than double by 2045.
Every September, people come together from all around the world to raise awareness and to challenge the stigma that persists around dementia.
World Alzheimer’s Day is held on Saturday, September 21st.
Time to Act on Dementia, Time to Act on Alzheimers
This year’s World Alzheimer’s Month campaign ‘Time to Act on Dementia, Time to Act on Alzheimers’ will focus on attitudes toward dementia and seeks to redress stigma and discrimination which still exists around the condition, while highlighting the positive steps being undertaken by organisations and governments globally to develop a more dementia friendly society.
